Never Back Down

What is it with me and Action movies? I just love the fight scenes! Like a dance. A vicious, violent, bloody dance.

There's something about the fight that draws me. I can't look away, and I flinch when I see the hard hits and the bad impacts. I get so into them I sympathize with the characters.

I wonder why that is?

As promised...

Nearly forgot about this list. My favorite Romantic Comedies.

Princess Bride
So classic, every one can find something to love about it. From Inigo's "You killed my father, prepare to die" to Westley's "Good work, sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning" its full of eternally quoteable lines.

Roxanne
Steve Martin as a Romantic Lead is a surprisingly good choice. He balances self loathing with enough humor to make others think he doesn't care how he looks, and the female lead becomes friends first. And it's based on a pretty cool play, Cerano De Bergerac (Steve Martin's character's name is initialed as CD. Clever no?)

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Because it reminds me of my own family. Love them, because you can't really get away from them.

10 Things I Hate About You
I like the interaction between the rival characters, and the sisters relationship is very realistically portrayed. And the music selection rocks. Plus, Heath Leger is in it, and he is so much fun to watch on screen. Plus the father's humor reminds me of my own dad.

Romancing the Stone
A romance novleist has to help her sister who is in major trouble, and meets the personification of her male romantic character on the way. The banter between the two leads is funny and charming, and you've got to like a guy who will make gator skin boots from a gator he killed.

Her Minor Thing
Slightly naive software programer is dating a tv anchorman but ends up in the middle of a battle between the sexes when her boyfriend lets it slip that she's a virgin. Cue his new-in-town camera man who moonlights as a photographer and runs into out never-clumsy, always in a good mood female lead. Cute story, likeable characters and the wonderful line "Tell her I love her. Like never before and never again."
(and yes that is DiNozzo as the Boyfriend!)

Some Like It Hot
Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis, two amazing actors with sex symbol Marylin Monroe. What could be better than that? Love, Music and the Mob!

Simply Irresistible
This has gotten bad reviews, but I'm a sucker for things like this. A chef who can't cook well finds the talent in her when she buys crabs at the behest of a man who comes and goes mysteriously and cant mind his own business and runs into a high profile store manager arranging a menu for his restaurant's opening night. With the ability to transfer her emotions to her clients through the food she cooks, you have to suspend your disbelief to truly love it like I do.

Sweet Home Alabama
Maybe it's just because I love the south and kinda wish I could move there, this movie has major appeal to me. Hicks, gentlemen and Civil War reenactors, this movie makes me wish I knew the life down South better than just through stereotypes. Plus, Reese Witherspoon is SO CUTE.

The Proposal
I had to get something from Sandra Bullock on here. She's too spectacular to just gloss over. Love it love it love it, even if the grandmother is immensely off kilter. I wish the pacing had been a little slower, but we cant have everything in life. This movie makes me wish I could go to Alaska, just to see if it's that scenic and serene. I think I could like a slower paced life. I just don't think I could handle the cold.

Back in the Game

Game of School that is. Four classes, two actually on campus, the other two are online classes which means LAB TIME! History and ASL 4 are in the new building on campus (the HS building with the cool green glass around the elevator shaft) and Math 50 and Health 100 require Lab time. The nice thing about the Math class is I only have to go to lab until I take the final. Apparently I can take it early (SWEET!!!)

On an end of summer note, I have officially gotten my friend Rebekah hooked on Leverage. How great is that? Now I have another person to talk to about the awesomeness of the show. We finished Season One and are now on Season Two. GO LEVERAGE!!! I've also been getting her hooked on Eliot. It's nice when someone understands my obsessions.

So that's all for now. We'll see how often I update my Blog once the school year gets rolling.

odd movie

Raising Arizona.
Lots of screaming, screeching tires and a VERY lanky Nicolas Cage. That man was very good looking back in the day, and he has aged well.

But Raising Arizona is a WEIRD movie.

new foods

I tried the Crispy Shrimp Tacos from Rubios. They are pretty friggin' delicious. I have issues with food textures. If I don't like the texture, I wont eat it, no matter how good it tastes. I hate the texture of shrimp, but I love the flavor which means if I eat it, somehow the texture must be disguised. Fried shrimp works well for hiding the texture. I like discovering new foods I can like. I'm just really sad the the Crispy Shrimp Taco wont be around for long. Go figure the foods I'll eat there wont stick around.

What is a girl to do?

On another note, I want to like Chinese food. I see people eat it in movies and shows. It cant be that bad, can it? And I sorta know how to eat with chopsticks, so I'm half way there, right?

Holla!

So my family went out this morning to help someone from our ward with their house. After wards we went to In-N-Out for lunch and on the way home we started joking around. MASSIVE mental anguish there. My family seems to love crossing the line, and then overreacting about it. I guess with a family of seven children there are no real secrets about your parents. But that doesn't mean you need to go on and on about it, do you?

Romantic

Uh...No matter how hard I try not to be, my romantic side insists on coming out. So you readers out there, YOU GET TO DEAL WITH IT!! Mwahahahaha!!!

For starters, Jane Austin. She writes such nice heroines. Believable in personality and time set.

Princess Bride. There is no better classic love story, even if its really only from the 80's. Revenge, miracles, swordfights, True Love.

I think my next post will be about my all-time favorite Romantic Comedies. Better start working on that list....

Current Obsessions

Chocolate (this is an on going obsession. I just cant resist the stuff.)

Christian Kane: Country music star, actor, and all around pretty cool guy. Who is this man? Ever seen Secondhand Lions? He plays young Hub. He's also the Hitter, Eliot in my current favorite television show Leverage.
Here's him in some movie I'll never see because it's rated R, but I like the song.

So I'm on this fan site for Christian Kane, and apparently I may be able to send him something that I made. Remember this? http://pondie.deviantart.com/#/d2vnwqz Someone on the site may be able to get me a fan mail address and I can send him another shirt with that design on it. AWESOME!!! And there's still speculation, but I may be able to go up to see one of his performances in Oregon. Cross your fingers for me!
